Express your opinions with the right mood

Recently I had the chance to try a different approach for the creative process. Without thinking in-depth I dropped all my initial thoughts down visually. Without letting them develop too much I use magazines, print outs of the web, textures, notes and Just splash it all on big a2 boards.

There are many articles on mood boards out there. Mood boards are a frequent thing in the design world such as interior but rare in our web design field. That doesn’t mean that its not a great way to start a project. A few months ago on the recommendation (and time allocation) of Dom at Flame I used a new project to try this approach. The Results? The best work I’ve ever done and hopefully a runner in some of this years design awards. More on that project in the the next few weeks.

Leeds Festival

The Summer has come, vanished without even a goodbye. My Summers over anyway. Leeds Festival, Global gathering, Glastonbury, Prague and Ibiza in the last 10 weeks (approx).

Leeds Festival

I had a really good time. Its good to get away with the lads every now and again and just go mental. Keeps my itchy feet under control. I wasn’t really interested in the bands this year. I’ve seen most of them already.

Ant Attack

Ant vector Illustration created for a new book cover called “Apache Ant Recipes for Web Developers”. I’m pleased with how organic it looks. The book cover and back should be finished in the next month or two.

Flame Digital web site launch

Its took about 10 months to create, millions of amends. Never under-estimate the process of building a design firm portfolio web site. Finally we have a place to showcase the company’s work. Go check out it out - Flame Digital

Relaxing is hard!

Had a great time, Ibiza is as great as they say it is. Everyone should go at least once. Highlights were D.Ramirez at Cream at Amnesia and watching the sunset at Cafe Mambo, made famous by the BBC and Pete Tong. Ibiza really does have beautiful beaches, its great to just jump on a boat, exploring the coast. I always notice the difference after a relaxing break. Its like animated part of the film bednobs and broomsticks begins.

Ibiza/Global

The weather has been backward in the UK so far this summer, cold when it should have been sunny and visa versa. However I finally made my peace with Mr.Sunshine after he decided to open his curtains and share last weekend. Which was lucky because on Friday I went camping once again. I went to Glastonbury a month ago and was disappointed to say the least. The weather is pretty god damn important in my book, I don’t care what anyone says.

Global gathering

So Last weekend I was at Global gathering. The biggest dance music festival in Britain. I’m pleased to announce I had a great time. It wasn’t until Thursday that I knew i was going. I got a free ticket through Jon at Flame, thanks Jon.

5 productivity tips

Thanks to the tips (not p.g) and my gym membership I’ve become exceedingly active.  These are the tips that work for me, everyones different of course. Have a mooch through this article and see what works for you.

1. One step at a time

1. I do something new every few weeks thats very small, Instead of having a caffine/suger full soft drink on my way to work I now have orange/juice or water. My new task is to take the stairs if I have to wait more than 5 seconds for the lift, then race the lift! 4 flights of stair always gets your heart beating.

2. Double Task’trouble

Combining tasks, I’ve started to read a book on the boring bus jouney’s to and from work. I found the boring ride was making me feel sleepy. You got to keep the mind active else it’ll shut down. Keep on the go.
